This solid has the characteristic of efflorescence, meaning it readily loses water molecules. When dissolved in water, it exhibits good solubility.

Sodium Hyposulfite solution consists of sodium ions and thiosulfate ions in a 2:1 ratio, making it an inorganic sodium salt. It has a melting point of 48.5°C and is virtually insoluble in alcohol. In 100 cc of water, approximately 20.9 grams of Sodium Thiosulfate can dissolve. The density of Sodium Thiosulfate is measured at 1.7 g/cm³.
