What is Disodium Orthophosphate?

Its production involves a specific method starting with the preparation of disodium hydrogen phosphate, using phosphoric acid and sodium sulfate as the primary raw materials. In this manufacturing process, phosphoric acid and sodium sulfate are combined and mixed together in a specific molar ratio of 1:1.6-2.4. The mixture is then stirred and subsequently treated with either ammonia water (with a mass percentage ranging between 26 and 28 percent) or liquid ammonia. This addition of ammonia helps facilitate the reaction.

The resulting mixture is subjected to a cooling process, where it undergoes crystallization at a temperature between 15 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius. The crystals formed are dibasic sodium phosphate, while the remaining liquid is separated through a filtration process, resulting in a filtrate. To summarize, Na2HPO4 is obtained through the preparation of disodium hydrogen phosphate, using phosphoric acid, sodium sulfate, and ammonia. The process involves precise mixing, cooling, and filtration to obtain the desired crystalline solid and a separate filtrate.
